In honor of his 75th birthday on June 18, resident artist & photographer Tafawa Hicks will share an exhibit of his journey throughout Africa & Haiti from 1974-1999.

Tafawa Hicks is a Bessemer, Alabama native, longtime Atlantan, and photographer, printer and custom picture framer who has a studio at the ArtsXchange. His creative instincts around photographing, printing, exhibiting and preserving African and African American imagery continue to evolve.

In the sense that all art is an expression of creative Spirit presenting itself as inspiration through each of us, I am an artist using the camera as creative expression," he says.
