Our feature this month ... Mistafunn!
Daryl Funn (Mistafunn™) is an author, poet, a game developer teaching artist with a BFA in multimedia graphics and web design. He has written and implemented various creative writing curriculums for elementary, middle, and high school students through the Alliance Theater's Arts for Learning program. Mistafunn uses his gift as a teaching artist to engage, empower, and educate. Having taught in Atlanta, Fulton, Fayette, and Dekalb counties for more than 10 years he has seen his digital storytelling and poetry lesson plans continually expand to more schools across Georgia and going as far as South Carolina.
As a competitive poet, he has graced many national stages in individual as well as group competitions. Mistafunn won the 2020 Southern Fried Haiku Championship and 2021 Haiku Death Match Champion. While authoring four books he organizes 2016 National poetry festival for the city of Decatur and continues facilitating writing and performance workshops to educate students of all ages on publishing and copywriting. Mistafunn operates and teaches by the model of respecting your audience and being true to the one that put you here. Xchange Open Mic is not a space for homophobia, racism, sexism, transphobia, or hate speech. List opens at 7:30 p.m./Mic at 8 p.m. $5 Hosted by Theresa Davis
