Wild Card: The 5th Saturday Writing Workshop

Expect the unexpected. Follow the words wherever they lead!

Feeling adventurous? Got a few words that need a little adventure of their own? Welcome to the Wild Card 5th Saturday Writing Workshop at ArtsXchange, where creativity runs wild, the rules are flexible, and absolutely nobody knows what we might get into!

Maybe we’ll shake the kinks out of a brand-new workshop idea. Maybe we’ll write haiku and splash them with watercolor. Maybe we’ll experiment with strange prompts, play deliciously dangerous word games, dabble in flash fiction, or discover a poem hiding in the most unexpected place. We might even try something we’ve never done before. That’s the beauty of the Wild Card: you never know what you’re going to get, but you can bet words will be involved!

This is a space for curious minds, adventurous writers, creative dabblers, and anyone who has ever wondered, “What if I tried this?” No pressure to be perfect, no need to have it all figured out. Just bring your imagination, your willingness to experiment, and maybe a sense of humor. We can work on the writing, work through the weirdness, and see what wonderful things happen when we give ourselves permission to play.

Whenever the calendar gifts us a fifth Saturday, we pull a Wild Card. Every session is a surprise, every activity is an experiment, and every writer gets a chance to discover something new.

Dare to be curious. Be willing to get weird. Don’t be afraid… maybe.

When: Every fifth Saturday, 2:00–4:00 PM

Where: Charles “Jikki” Riley Memorial Library at ArtsXchange

Come play with words. Leave with possibilities.
