About the Event

THE FAMILY THAT CREATES TOGETHER: The Poetry Scrapbook

Saturdays, April 2, 9, 16 & 23 | 10-11 AM in-person at the ArtsXchange!

This course — led by Theresa Davis, renowned slam poet, educator and literary arts director at  the ArtsXchange  — will help families tell their stories.

Participants will write poetry using forms and prompts, creating personal narratives and storytelling, while preserving and sharing thought and family bonding. Scrapbooking combines  photographs, journaling and careful placement of art elements to create original family treasures that connect family and later transport the reader down the memory lane of shared experience.

It is part of "The Family That Creates Together" a series of 16 free classes taught by ArtsXchange studio residents on various dates, March-June. Youth of all ages and their families are invited to participate.

Funding for "The Family that Creates Together" is provided by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General.  Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency – the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding provided by Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, the Fulton County Arts and Culture under the direction of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.
