About the Event

Do you have items you treasure: a high school scrapbook, mother’s wedding album, child’s preschool drawing, grandmother’s quilt, or great-uncle’s bible?  Do you want to learn how to safeguard these items for the future?

Conservators from Emory University Libraries and the Michael C. Carlos Museum will share practical information about preserving personal items such as books, albums, and heirlooms.  Through discussions and demonstrations, participants will learn about the field of art conservation and how to apply its principles at home.  Conservators will offer tips for care, handling, storage, and display.

Participants can also sign up for individual consultations during which conservators will review photos of personal items and offer specific strategies.

Please note that conservators can provide recommendations, resources, and referrals, but they cannot provide appraisals.
